Here I am with 'Flora and Friends Make a Treasure Book' at Derian House , my local Childrens' Hospice.
My aim is to use my skills to create stories about your pets, to bring to life their characters amongst pages of colourful, whimsical artwork.
A book that will be an enchanting bedtime story, and a valued treasure and keepsake of your furry or feathered family member.
Engaging children's minds and imagination, and encouraging creativity, nurtures a lifelong enjoyment of reading and the endless possibilities of creative writing.
Words offer so many journeys to wherever you wish to go.
I am dyslexic, and it has taken me a long time to understand this condition. I truly see it as a gift and a blessing, alongside my other conditions.
What the world sees as disabilities, I see as infinite, endless possibilities.
In embracing my own uniqueness, I have been able to truly love and cherish the qualities of others as aspirational and inspirational gifts.
I am endeavouring to share this in some form or another in all I create.
I truly appreciate and value your interest and support. Knowing you have taken the time to read this is a great encouragement to me.
Know You By Heart Books is a growing series, created to help children navigate life’s ups and downs. Each book is thoughtfully written and illustrated to support young readers through difficult times, while also celebrating their joys and strengths.
The next book in the series will focus on supporting young carers, offering self-help, ideas, signposting, and creative activities to help them cope with their feelings and celebrate their important role.
This project is very close to my heart, and I can’t wait to share it with you soon.
“I’m a palliative care nurse within a hospice setting and child bereavement is a very sad and yet frequent occurrence within my field. This book offers a practical step by step instruction of how to help a child create a lasting memory of their loved one and sets a background story of loss which the child can easily understand and relate to. I’ll definitely be using it as a helpful tool within my practice.”
Samantha McCann – Palliative Care Nurse

“This book is a beautifully written and illustrated gem that really shines. Bereavement is always a difficult topic to approach but this book brings some lovely ideas together to help young and even older people remember their loved ones.
